AUTUMN MAGIC AT LYSØEN

Autumn concert with Tore Kloster and Ingunn Ådland

Robert Schumann (1810–1856) lived at a time of flourishing Romanticism and translated ideas about longing, fairytales and nature-mysticism into his music. One source of inspiration was Joseph Eichendorff, whose poetry Schumann used for the song cycle Leiderkreis (opus 39). Here Schumann leads us into a forest saturated with solitude and sparks our imagination. Although perhaps saddening to fragile souls, Leiderkreis has a magical appeal in Lysøen’s landscape. The concert also includes lighter pieces and a more folkish mood with songs by Benjamin Britten, Gerald Finzi, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Henry Purcell.

2 pm, 11 September, at Lysøen

Tore Kloster – Tenor

Ingunn Ådland – piano
